The couple of times I’ve been to Ba-Ba-Reeba, I left thinking, “I should have ordered only tapas.”

Don’t get me wrong, the $25 Paella Mixta is decent, and if you keep in mind that two people could eat off of this giant serving, it isn’t too bad of a price.  I got the paella mixta; consisting of spanish chorizo, chicken, shrimp, and saffron rice, the last time I was there.  I wasn’t impressed, but I also wasn’t disappointed.

This time, I opted for the club sandwich, which is pretty much the same as anywhere except for a tiny bit of thinly sliced chorizo.  The price was about $12, which is fine, and again I wasn’t expecting to be wowed.

Now the reason I left thinking I should have only ordered tapas, both times I’ve been here, is because they were actually really good.  We didn’t really delve into the tapas either times.  But, for the few that we did order, they stood out from the other menu items.  This restaurant seems to be more of a tapas place after all, but it’s difficult not to try the paella.

Resist the urge to try the rest of the menu and just stick to the tapas.
